Additional eLearning Samples
I created a portfolio for our education department. For purposes of my personal portfolio, I simplified the Storyline file and left only samples created by me.

Communities of Practice
Instructional Design Community
Curated and created materials for two Communities of Practice.
1. Instructional Design Community - Helps prepare non-ID folks in various business units to develop their own training. This community was actively used for assignments, peer reviews, and discussions during our Instructional Design 101 and Item Writing 101 courses.
2. Community Resource Center - Provides resources and directions for all employees who want to create their own Community of Practice.
A great deal of research and curation was involved in establishing these two Communities of Practice. It became an active community where personnel came to exchange ideas, ask questions, and find information.

Four Door Delivery Method
Applied Thiagi's Four Door Model to create a certification course on additive manufacturing materials. The purpose of the course is to prepare sales reps to sell 3D printing materials. This is a 'self-service' course. Learners come and take what they need, when they need it. They can look up one material or study until they get certified to sell a set of materials by technology. The sections of this course (or "doors") I designed were:
- Think About It (introduction)
- Learn It (main materials content)
- Sell It (selling-focused content)
- Share It (social aspect)
- Practice It (reviews, KCs, study guides)
- Get Certified (certification exam)
This outline (one of many iterations put together during design) is an internal training document that identifies the structure and objectives of the course. It identifies existing external and internal sources to be curated as well as new content needed to fill the gaps.

Worked closely with a SME and my manager to create this template. The template is designed to be completed by SMEs to explain real or imagined sales situations. The completed form was then used by me to create an interactive practice that guides sales reps in determining the best material for a particular customer. Guiding feedback with explanations is provided for each question.
Here is an example of a completed interaction. |
Storyline practice questions on material properties. Learners are given two chances to correctly answer the question. On the second incorrect response, the answer is given with a bit of additional information.

MOOCs
Designed, curated, and developed content for two MOOCs. A backwards design model was used due to the various needs of the learners and flexibility required in meeting their needs. Each MOOC was 4 weeks long and contained a variety of materials.
Components of the course included:
The purpose of the MOOCs was to reach a global audience, which it did successfully. We utilized Peergrade, a specially-designed platform for connecting learners and requiring them to anonymously review their assignments.
Two MOOCs were created. All course materials were matched to the color used in branding the software product. One product was green; the other red. This explains the use of these bright colors.

Wrote a course management guide to pull the various pieces of delivering this course into one document, and to communicate information to LMS Admin and management. The management guide contains key information and prepared emails used to remind learners of upcoming assignments and due dates.

Developed this syllabus for learners to prepare them for the course; so they would know what to expect. The Peergrade (peer-to-peer anonymous review site) code, assignment schedule and due dates, as well as a course description are included.

Small Rise piece that guides learners using a software product. Shows them how to find the help section and tutorials.

Engaging Rise module with videos, hot spots, and case studies. Part of a much larger MOOC - sales training.

Instructional Design Course
Designed, developed, delivered this course on the instructional design process to internal colleagues from various business units around the globe. We were teaching them how to create their own training. We provided a Community of Practice; a site we also used for them to submit their assignments and peer review. The course was delivered over 5 weeks and included live webinars with built-in interactivity, homework assignments, job aids, and templates.
Student Guide kept learners organized and focused throughout the course. It contains knowledge check questions. This guide contains the answers that are removed for learners.
Instructor delivery guide for one of the webinars that are part of this blended learning solution.

Welcome letter to learners for a blended solution involving webinars, assignments (homework), and a Community of Practice (social component that includes peer reviews). This letter explains how the course works and what to expect so that learners can be prepared and ready to go.
|
Assignment table for learners of a 5-week blended solution that included weekly webinars, homework assignments, and a community of practice. The purpose of the assignment table was to keep adult learners organized and help them prepare for what's to come.
|
The Instructional Design Community of Practice (CoP) was used to provide instructional design information to all employees. It included a blog where we published thoughtful posts on various ID topics. I also used the site for peer-to-peer discussions and assignment storage for our item writing and instructional design training.
